Programs
In recent years, the History/Philosophy and Teacher Education departments hosted numerous educational programs at the Little Red Schoolhouse, depicting various decades in which the schoolhouse was in operation. Following state and federal guidelines, these educational programs provided opportunities to revive the schoolhouse's historical legacy and engagement in various activities, spanning across a multitude of decades between 1865 to 1954, when the Little Red Schoolhouse closed. Program activities included, but not limited to, lectures, games, trivia, and tours. Currently existing programs are listed here with a short preview document that outlines the program. Future Programming
Because of the success of previous programs at the Little Red Schoolhouse, new programs are currently under development through the partnership of the History/Philosophy and Education departments. These new programs will provide opportunities for teacher education experience and student engagement across multiple levels at Shippensburg University. We hope to also expand the engagement of the schoolhouse to the surrounding community through interactive tours and events for all ages. All programs will be hosted on site at the Little Red Schoolhouse within each academic year.
