Scheduling an Appointment

Watch the video below or access print instructions here.

In an effort to serve all students, we ask that you please do not schedule back-to-back appointments for the same service. We encourage distributed learning, which requires study sessions of relatively short duration (1-hour or less) over a period of time.

Attending an Appointment

We ask that you attend writing tutoring appointments in person, if possible. If not possible, please use the Zoom link in your appointment confirmation at the time of your appointment. To use Zoom, you will need internet access and a computer equipped with a camera and microphone. For instructions on how to use Zoom for tutoring, please click here.

If you do not have the proper equipment for Zoom, please visit the technology resources page. Please be sure to have the appropriate technology by the time of your appointment.

What to Bring

There isn't a set list of what you need to bring, but here are some resources that will help us:

  • An electronic or hard copy of your assignment prompt, instructions, and rubric
  • An electronic or hard copy of your draft (if you have a draft)
  • Any books, syllabi, scholarly articles, or class notes that could be helpful.

If you are stuck on the brainstorming or drafting portion of your writing assignment, that's okay! You don't need a completed paper to schedule an appointment.

What to Expect

Writing tutoring is conversational and collaborative. You and your writing tutor will likely discuss your assignment prompt and requirements, read your writing together, and identify ways to make your writing more effective.
