Asian American Organization (AAO)
The Asian-American Organization of Shippensburg University was founded in 1994 to fulfill the purpose of promoting awareness and understanding of Asian American peoples as well as functioning as a support group for students of Asian heritage and a meeting ground for students of all heritages and anyone with an interest in Asian culture, diversity, making friends and having fun.
The AAO hosts the Asian Extravaganza each spring semester to celebrate Asian New Year. We also participate in "The Art of Being Asian", an educational program about Asian culture that is hosted each spring by Shippensburg University's Residence Hall Association.
Some of our outings have included trips to Washington, D.C., Baltimore, West Chester University and Harrisburg. We also have movie parties and dinner parties featuring traditional food cooked by our members. Our events are funded by our "famous" homemade eggroll sales that are held throughout the year.
How do I join?
