Submitting a Student Attempt

Sometimes it's necessary to submit an attempt for a student. They may have technical difficulties or may have neglected to do so.

Intended Audience: Faculty

1.  Click More Tools

2.  Click Quizzes

3.  Click the Down arrow to the right of the quiz.

4.  Click Grade

5.  Click Show Search Options (if "Hide Search Options appears then you can skip this step)

6.  Under Restrict to, click the drop down box and choose "Users with attempts in progress"

7.  Click the magnifying glass to the right of the search field to refresh the list.

8.  Click the person icon to the right of "(In Progress)" under the attempt of the student. 

9.  Submit the attempt.

Overview

This guide will show you how to access the quiz event log for student attempts on quizzes.  This is useful if you want a time-stamped breakdown of when a student entered a quiz and responded to each question of that quiz.  This will also timestamp when students lose connection to the quiz as a result of Internet disconnections. This is useful when investigating possible cheating or discrepancies in answers

Reviewing Quiz Attempts for Students

 

1.  Click More Tools - Quizzes.

2.  Click the down arrow to the right of the quiz you want to view.

3.  Click Grade.

4.  Click the attempt that you want to review for the student.

5.  Click Quizzes Event Log. 

6.  Review the Event Log

Overview

Occasionally there may be a reason why you would want to reset a student's Quiz attempt. Often this happens if they had computer issues and ran out of time. If the attempt was already completed and graded, this will erase their grade.

Audience: Faculty

Reset a Quiz Attempt

1.  Click More Tools

2.  Click Quizzes

3.  Click the Down arrow to the right of the quiz.

4.  Click Grade

5.  Click Show Search Options (if "Hide Search Options appears then you can skip this step)

6.  Under Restrict to, click the drop down box and choose "Users with attempts in progress" or "Users who have completed an attempt"

7.  Click the box to the left of the student or students' attempt[s].

8.  Click Reset, located just above the column headers.

9.  Ensure that the quiz is still available to be taken either by editing the End date of the quiz to sometime in the future or by modifying the end date for just this student via special access.
