Set Up Auto-Grade for Quizzes
By default, when students complete a quiz they are not shown their results in the Grades area until the instructor manually releases the grades through Quizzes/Quiz/Grade. If your students have already submitted quizzes then you can learn how to manually export grades to the Grades area.
During quiz setup, there is an option under the assessment tab to allow the system to automatically set the quiz to graded upon completion so that students can see their results right away. This will only work on question types that can be auto-graded. Follow the steps below to do this.
- Click Quizzes
- Click the Quiz
- Click the Assessment Tab
- Click the box to the left of "Allow attempt to be set as graded immediately upon completion."
- Click Save
Manually Export Quiz Grades To The Gradebook
This guide will show you how to manually export your quiz grades to the Gradebook in the event that you forgot to set up the quiz to auto-export to grades before students have taken it. Modifying the auto-export to grades setting after students have already begun to submit their quiz will not retroactively send those grades to the grade book. You will need to follow the steps in this guide. It will send any new quiz attempts to the Gradebook.
1. Click More Tools - Quizzes.
2. Click the down arrow to the right of the quiz you want to export and then choose Edit.
3. Click Assessment and make sure both "Allow attempt to be set as graded immediately upon completion" and "Allow automatic export to grades" are checked and you have a grade item selected.
4. Click Save and Close
5. Click the down arrow to the right of the quiz you want to export and then choose Grade.
6. Click the Select All box to the right of the First Name / Last Name column to select all students.
- NOTE: This will only select all the students on the one page and by default you will only see 20 students on one page. To ensure all students are on one page so that you can select everyone scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and change the "20 per page" to "200 per page".
7. Click Publish Feedback.
8. Return to your gradebook and the associated grade item should now display the quiz grade for each student who's completed the quiz.
