"Stories matter. And so do facts. My goal is to teach my students how to harness their own voices to tell compelling, accurate stories that will inform, inspire, connect and engage their readers, viewers and listeners."

Professor Witmer has more than 25 years of experience as a professional journalist and editor. Her articles have been published in magazines and websites, including Prevention, Women’s Health, Redbook, Better Homes & Gardens, USA Today, Food & Wine, Forbes Travel Guide, Country Sampler, Civil Eats, Daily Parent, Susquehanna Style, Central PA magazine, and Pittsburgh magazine. She has written and edited brand content for Hertz, Bed Bath & Beyond, Electrolux, Capital Blue, Volvo, Kroger, CORT, and more. She is the author of two cookbooks and worked as a full-time magazine editor for three years. Prof. Witmer taught full time in the department from 2007 to 2013 and returned in 2016 as a regular part-time assistant professor.
