Are you interested in interning with the USGS?

Read on for some important tips and links

The USGS internship program is designed to provide students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with opportunities to work in agencies and explore Federal careers while still in school and while getting paid for the work performed. But the USGS's ability to hire students directly is not as simple as it used to be and this page highlights a few items that might help those seeking work at the USGS. The program for internships that can possibly convert to full time work has changed in the last few years, and are available at the Pathways Program. Also, keep an eye out for openings that come up on USA Jobs.

There is another program you should probably look into as well. Most summer internships are filled from the National Association of Geoscience Teachers (NAGT) program that has a special program with the USGS. These students are recommended from their ranking during their  field camp. Since the USGS, including the USGS office in New Cumberland, gets most of their interns now through this route, it would be to your advantage to participate if you can. The websites below will give you the details about the NAGT program.
