Stratification belief research suggests that, historically, racial prejudice and individualism have been widespread in the U.S., and that both phenomena are associated with less government support among Americans. This study was designed to explore this association among Americans coming-of-age today, in light of increased public awareness of issues of racial and economic inequality in the U.S. in recent years and the current wave of youth activism around related issues.
