This program provides children who have completed K-11th grade with breakfast, lunch, and activities during 7 weeks of the summer. The program meets Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. You do NOT have to register to come and just get a meal! Programming is from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. All children who attend the programming must register. Children can come for one day, two days, any days! The backpack program services food-insecure students in the Shippensburg Area School District by providing a backpack of meals over the weekend during the school year. If you are interested in signing your child up for the program, please contact your school counselor or SCRC at coordinator-scrc@shipresources.org.To enroll in the program, please complete the following form: Hound Packs Enrollment - Grey Matter
Grey Matter is a free, six-week school-based prevention program for Shippensburg Area Senior High School (SASHS) and eight-week for Middle School (SAMS) students showing a lack of motivation, sadness, or irritability. Group sessions include building group trust, increasing participant involvement in fun activities, learning and practicing new ways of thinking, and developing plans to respond to life stressors. Groups are offered during the school day during student's flex period. If your child(ren) is in 8th grade, have them talk to Mrs. Curtis at SAMS and Mrs. Carbaugh for 9th -12th graders to sign up for the group. - Youth Advisory Council
The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is based out of Shippensburg Area Middle School. This is a group of middle school students to help make decisions related to youth resiliency and reducing youth substance youth. It allows students to have their voices heard and to help give perspective to certain programs of what is and what is not working. YAC members participate in events and in the past have attended events at the Luhrs Performing Arts Center. To learn more about this program, please contact us at coordinator-scrc@shipresources.org.
Shippensburg Community Resource Guide
Since the town of Shippensburg is located in both Cumberland County and Franklin County, this can lead to confusion about how and where to access social services. County social services are available in the neighboring towns of Carlisle and Chambersburg. Both counties have their own guides to social services so this guide focuses on the services that are available within the Shippensburg Area School District boundaries. - Healthy Decisions Group
This program is for students in the Shippensburg Area Middle School and High School having difficulty in the school setting. The students meet once a week to work on different skills such as communication and conflict resolution. School counselors and/or teachers can refer students to the program, both the student and the parents have to agree and give permission for the student to participate. This is a monthly networking opportunity for local human service providers. These meetings are held virtually from 11:30AM to 1PM until further notice. Luncheons are held on the second Friday of every other month from September to May. Leaders-in-Training Camp helps students develop the essential skills that create leaders such as positive peer role modeling, problem-solving skills, active listening skills, and interpersonal management skills. It is a 4-day camp usually a week after school ends for the year. Youth who live in the Shippensburg Area School District entering 6-12 grade are able to attend. There is a $50 camp fee, but a fee waiver is available. To register for the 2025 Leaders In Training Camp.
