GROUP FITNESS

 The Department of Recreation offers group fitness classes designed to provide participants with a variety of activity choices to meet all interests and fitness levels.


SCHEDULE: 

MONDAY:  

  • 7:30AM - 8:15AM:  Pilates with Nora
    • Cancelled Mon 2/23 due to delayed opening
  • 7PM - 7:45PM:  Pilates with Nora

TUESDAY:

  • 7:30AM - 8:15AM:  SPINergy

WEDNESDAY:

  • 7:30AM - 8AM:  Spin for Beginners
  • 6:15PM - 6:15PM:  Spin & Sculpt 
  • 7PM - 7:45PM:  Pilates with Nora 

THURSDAY:

  • 7:30AM - 8:15AM:  SPINergy

FRIDAY:

  • 7:30AM - 8:15AM:  Pilates with Nora

 


PRIVATE FITNESS CLASSES:

The department offers private fitness classes for departments, student organizations, and varsity athletic teams during the academic year.  Choose from a few different classes options, and select your preferred date/time period.  Just complete the following form and the Department will be in touch soon!

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

PILATES WITH NORA:

A 45-minute Pilates-inspired full body workout that incorporates both body weight and strength training exercises for people of all fitness levels. This class will improve overall strength, core stability, and flexibility, while also empowering members by connecting physical and mental strength. With a new music theme every class, this workout is sure to make you sweat and sing along while doing it! 

SPIN FOR BEGINNERS:

A 30-minute fun and welcoming cycling class that will introduce riding techniques and simple rhythm-based drills in a supportive, no-pressure environment. Expect upbeat music, clear instruction, and a great workout that builds confidence!" 

SPINERGY:

A high-energy interval training cycle session that targets many muscle groups while incorporating flats, sprints, and hill climbs.  The music is specifically designed to challenge you in different way and build a fun group atmosphere.  Anyone from a beginner to avid cyclist can participate and get an awesome workout!  If it's your first class, come early so the instructor can help you set-up your bike.

SPIN & SCULPT:

A 30-minute ride with 30 minutes of muscle / strength conditioning workout that adopts a HIIT and a strength training style. It involves alternating periods of high and low intensity movements while using hand weights and bands to build lean muscle. During the workout, all major muscle groups are targeted.


POLICIES:

  • Classes take place in ShipRec unless otherwise noted on the schedule.  
  • Facility access policies apply.  Guests are not permitted to in Heiges pool but may attend group fitness classes in ShipRec - guest pass policies apply.
  • All classes are drop-in and do not require pre-registration.  Classes and equipment are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. 
  • Please come in appropriate athletic attire. Close-toed, close-heeled, activity-appropriate athletic footwear intended for indoor use with non-marking soles must be worn. Cross-training shoes with arch and lateral support are recommended for cardio and weight training classes.
