Curriculum and Instruction, Early Childhood with PreK-4th Grade Certification, MEd

The Curriculum and Instruction, Early Childhood with PreK-4th Grade Certification, M.Ed. program is for students with teaching certificates or those seeking certification.

What Will I Learn?

Core program requirements are broken down into four main areas:

  • Curriculum and assessment
  • Effective teaching and leadership
  • The learner
  • Focus on research

Beyond that, there are credits required in the early childhood with pre-K-4th grade certification cluster. Students in this cluster must take an action research course that serves as a capstone experience, synthesizing theory and practice as participants engage in studying and subsequently conducting the action research process.

What Kinds of Experiences Could I Have?

The degree is designed to enhance teaching and learning through exploration of theoretical principles and practical applications to educational settings. You may structure your coursework to meet individual sub-disciplinary interests.

There are also opportunities to conduct and present research during your time at Shippensburg University.
