Summer Academy

Summer Academy 2026

The Summer Academy Program starts July 6 and runs until July 31.

The Summer Academy Program provides an extended orientation to the roles and expectations of a Shippensburg student as well as determine college readiness.

All Summer Academy students must attend Summer Orientation. The Summer Academy Program is a five-week mandatory program. Students must participate in a variety of activities such as placement testing and information sessions, as well as complete various educational inventories.

All students will enroll in ACEX 101 and PSYC 101, courses that will count for graduation credits, GPA, which they must earn at least a "C" grade or better in these classes in order to continue their enrollment into the fall semester.

Students selected to participate in this program can expect to receive the following benefits:

  • An extended orientation to college life.
  • A connection to the ASP faculty and staff.
  • Guidance in utilizing the electronic resources required by the university, such as: e-mail, D2L, and the Banner System.
  • An introduction to the general education curriculum and the journey to major selection.
  • Awareness of the university's academic policies and procedures.
  • Increase student's awareness of institutional resources.
  • An understanding of the ASP resources available throughout their college career

  • In addition to taking ACEX101: Foundations for Academic Success and PSYC101: General Psychology (both 3-credit courses), interacting with offices across our campus, and focusing on reading and writing skills, there will be a variety of virtual and in-person programs for you to help you get acquainted with your new Ship family, navigate campus, and make a successful transition to your first year of college.
  • Please expect further communication from Admissions via email. This information will help you get ready for the summer program, complete all of your necessary steps in the admission process, navigate financial aid, and more.

  • Students should file their 2026-27 Free Application For Student Aid (FAFSA) to receive consideration for aid.
