Bachelor of Arts in Political Science

A Bachelor of Arts in Political Science prepares you for a variety of careers in government and government relations, as well as law or graduate school.

Alumni of our program go on to have careers working in:

  • Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas
  • Pennsylvania General Assembly
  • Lobbying
  • Local, state and federal election campaigns
  • Media (correspondents, producers, campaign media, and more)

Core courses focus on American government, international relations and research methods. You will also take electives based on your interests and required courses in four applied competency areas:

  • Oral Communication
  • Written Communication
  • Problem Solving
  • Experiential Learning

Your classroom experience is complemented by internships, field trips, in-class simulations, nationally-known speakers and job shadowing.

Join the Political Science Club to connect and engage in the debate about politics and current events. Members of the club organize and participate in non-partisan political activities, take field trips to Washington, D.C., and become involved in fun events relating to the world of politics.

Ship also has an active chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, the national political science honor society.
