College of Art & Sciences Advising Center

 Welcome to the College of Art & Sciences Advising Center.  Our mission is to promote students’ academic excellence, regardless of their major status or college. We do this by providing:

  • general academic advising support for all students
  • intensive advising for students on academic probation or returning after dismissal
  • academic success services such as individual coaching that will promote student success
  • major exploration services for students who do not have a major or are considering a major change, including students in the Arts & Sciences general program
  • coordination with faculty advisors to help support students in their majors
  • resources and best practices for faculty advisors

Carla Kungl

Dr. Carla Kungl is an Associate Professor in the English Department, where she teaches writing, British literature, and technical writing. She also directs the interdisciplinary Technical/Professional Communications Minor. She wants students to know that at the College of Arts & Sciences Advising Center (CASA), “your success is our success.”

Andrew Smeltz


Graduate Assistant

Andrew is a graduate student in Shippensburg’s Master of Science in Coun-seling program with a concentration in Mental Health Counseling, and he is an Academic Support Specialist for the Advising Center. Andrew is interest-ed in wellness and how the many aspects of one’s life contribute to one’s overall health. His hope is to help others uncover and work toward fulfilling their potential.
