Creative Works: Writing
Write the Ship
Write the Ship is Shippensburg University's Undergraduate Academic Journal. We publish student essays, research, studies, and work from all disciplines. The journal, sponsored by the English Department, was founded in order to foster Shippensburg University's community of talented student writers. Faculty advisors are eager to welcome new voices from across the campus to participate in the publishing process, either by submitting work or by joining the staff.
The Reflector
The Reflector has been the campus undergraduate journal of the arts since 1957. Undergraduate students from all majors are encouraged to submit their original prose, fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and artwork for consideration by our staff. Each spring, we publish a journal of pieces selected from the student submissions.
Creative Works: Arts and Music
Kauffman Gallery
Kauffman gallery presents a diverse array of visual art exhibitions throughout the calendar year, from nationally and regionally recognized artists, to exhibitions by our Art & Design Department faculty and students.
SU Marching Band
The SU Marching Band (SUMB) is a corps-style marching band, which performs diverse styles of music while executing challenging, contemporary marching drill. The band performs and supports the team at all Red Raider home football games and at several away games throughout the season. They also perform in exhibition at high school band festivals and competitions throughout Pennsylvania and Maryland as well as feature performances for the Cavalcade of Bands, Tournament of Bands, USSBA, and the annual Collegiate Marching Band Festival in Allentown.
Music Ensembles
The Music and Theatre Arts Department supports many performance ensembles and student groups. Students perform for audiences locally, regionally, throughout the United States, and abroad. These organizations provide students with opportunities to network, pursue leadership positions, earn credit, boost their resumes, and have fun.
