Estimated Total Expenses to Attend Shippensburg University
Get Ready to Use Your VA Benefits
Shippensburg University’s Veterans Benefits Office certifies enrollment for undergraduate and graduate students who are eligible for veterans’ education benefits. Follow the steps below and get ready to use your Veterans Benefits at Ship!
During Fall/Spring semesters, twelve credits are required to be considered a full-time undergraduate student and six credits are required to be considered a full-time graduate student by the Veterans Administration.
Step 1: Accepted and Confirmed
The first step is to apply to Ship and make sure you have been accepted and confirm your attendance after acceptance. You can apply as an undergraduate, graduate or transfer existing credits from another school.
Step 2: Let Your Military Service Count Towards Credit
The University accepts Joint Services transcripts (JST) and CCAF/Air University transcripts for military service and experiences for consideration of transfer credit. Request your JST at jst.doded.mil, select your university, verify details, and submit electronically.
Step 3: Complete Your FAFSA®
Even with VA benefits, FAFSA® can unlock extra aid. You may qualify for the Federal Pell Grant, school scholarships, work-study, and state aid—helping cover costs that VA benefits might not fully cover, like fees, housing, and books.
Step 4: Submit COE to Veteran Services
Request your COE through your VA account, download it, and submit it to our Veterans Services team via email or drop if off in person to Mowrey Hall 207.
Final Step: Contact Veteran Services
After you’ve decided that you are eligible and would like to use your Veterans Education Benefits, request an Enrollment Certification Request Form from the Veterans Benefits Office by emailing vetaffairs@ship.edu OR picking up a paper copy during Orientation.
