anuel Ruiz is currently the Assistant Vice President for Inclusion, Belonging, and Director of Social Equity at Shippensburg University. Additionally, he serves as the Co-SLG Lead for PASSHE’s Chief Diversity Officers. Dr. Ruiz has worked in higher education in a variety of roles both in student and academic affairs for 25 years. Ruiz has served on convention planning teams and committees for ACPA – College Student Educators, active member of NACE (National Association of Colleges and Employers), and most recently PASSHE Summit Conference Planning Team. Additionally, Dr. Ruiz has taught at the undergraduate and graduate level. His research interests include the academic and social integration of Latino college students, intersectionality, first-generation college students, social justice, leadership, and career development.
Ruiz earned his doctorate in Higher Education Administration from Northeastern University, master’s degree in Counseling with a Concentration in Higher Education from Montclair State University, and a bachelor’s degree in History with a minor in African-American Studies also from Montclair State University.
