You may choose to get involved with the French Club, which allows you to practice the French language and learn more about the cultures from the French-speaking world. Every semester, there are multicultural events, fundraisers and visits to events related to the French-speaking world.
Course Work for Translation in French Certificate
In order to be admitted directly to the Translation in French Certificate program, you need to have reached the Advanced Low proficiency level in French according to the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages guidelines. If you have not scored at that level, you will need appropriate training in the areas of language, literature and culture and to this effect complete the core courses in French (24 credits).
Once admitted in the certificate program, you must complete 12 credits in French. In parallel, you also need to complete a minimum of 18 credits in a subject area specialty outside of French to demonstrate deeper knowledge of one or more disciplines outside the linguistics area.
