Retention and Student Success at Shippensburg University offers a comprehensive array of support services aimed at guiding undergraduate students through their academic journey, culminating in degree completion. By leveraging qualitative and quantitative data, our office designs tailored interventions to reduce overall student attrition and address attrition within specific sub-groups.
Financial Support
Raider Retention Grant
This grant is used to assist continuing Shippensburg University students to cover their outstanding balance. Applications are reviewed in the order received until funds are no longer available. The grant is subject to limitations.
Lending Library
The Textbook Network at Shippensburg University houses programs to support students with their textbook needs. Students have the following options to receive support.
Student Emergency Fund
The Student Emergency Fund was established with donor contributions to the Shippensburg University Foundation to assist undergraduate students who have immediate financial needs that directly affect their ability to continue their education at Shippensburg University.

Early Alert
The Early Alert Program partners with faculty, staff, and campus resources to provide proactive, coordinated outreach to students experiencing academic, personal, or financial challenges. By connecting students to timely support, the program strengthens retention, promotes equity in access to resources, and helps students reach their full potential.

Student Success Coaching
The Student Success Team provides one-on-one meetings, check-ins, and individualized support to help students feel seen and connected to campus resources, including collaborating with students on action plans, engaging in empathic listening, and facilitating soft handoffs to appropriate services.
