Dr. W. Adam Powell is in his eleventh year at Shippensburg University and was awarded tenure in the fall of 2020. Dr. Powell served as the department chair of the Management, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship Department from Fall of 2019 until January of 2022. He then served as the Interim Associate Dean of the John L. Grove College of Business from January of 2022 until the Fall of 2023. He has reprised this role again for the 2025-2026 academic year. He is also serving contiguously as the Interim Associate Dean of the College of Education and Human Services.
Dr. Powell and co-authors published in the Journal of Consumer Marketing in 2025. In 2019 Dr. Powell and his co-authors received the outstanding paper award from the European Journal of Marketing. Dr. Powell has presented his research at numerous conferences and continues his work on other projects in marketing and sales. In 2019 he received the Staples Distribution Center Advising Award.
Dr. Powell has taught a variety of courses including digital marketing, marketing management, principles of marketing, university foundations, and innovation management. Dr. Powell is blessed to have a supportive wife and children and is very active in his faith and serves as a leader in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
