About President Patterson
President Charles E. Patterson has dedicated nearly two decades to the advancement of higher education. He arrived at Shippensburg University on June 30, 2021 and served as interim president until his appointment as the 18th president on May 6, 2022.
Inauguration Guest Speaker
Lieutenant General Leslie C. Smith, US Army (retired) currently serves as the Vice President for Leadership and Education, AUSA, the CEO for LV Smith consulting Group LLC, the Carter Chair for leadership at Georgia Southern University and on several corporate boards. LTG Smith received his commission from Georgia Southern University (GSU) in 1983 as a Field Artillery Officer.
