The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Shippensburg University provides no-cost confidential consulting and low cost training to small business owners and potential entrepreneurs in Adams, Cumberland, Franklin and York counties. We help entrepreneurs make sound decisions for the successful operation of their business. Our consulting services are offered at no-charge and your information is always confidential.

The SBDC's one-on-one management consulting emphasizes education and guidance in finding practical solutions to business problems. Consulting is confidential and provided at no charge by a staff of skilled professionals.

The Pennsylvania SBDCs also offer services to small business owners through a number of specialized programs. These programs provide assistance in areas requiring greater depth of knowledge and experience beyond standard business management expertise.

The Small Business Development Centers offer courses, seminars and conferences that provide up-to-date, practical information on a wide variety of business topics. Programs teach basic business skills as well as more advanced and specific business management techniques and processes. These low cost workshops feature experts and leaders from industry, government, higher education, and professional associations. Workshops are typically held via webinar and can be found by visiting the PASBDC training calendar to register for a workshop.

Robin Burtner, Director
Robin has a Master’s of Business Administration and a M.A. in Higher Education Administration. Robin has been with the center since its opening in January 2007.
Georgina Cranston, Business Consultant
Georgina earned her BA from Indiana University and her MBA from Penn State. Her career path includes working as an educator and tutor at a private boarding school, owning her own tutoring company specializing in standardized test prep and most recently running a local chamber of commerce. Her experience as an educator, small business owner and chamber executive have made her a champion for small businesses.
Charles J. Haney, EMAP Consultant
Charles Haney has a BS in Environmental Resource Management and a MS in Environmental Science and Management. As an environmental consultant, his duties include assisting businesses with environmental compliance and energy efficiency.
Jen Horning, Business Consultant
Jen earned a BS in Marketing from Shippensburg University and a MBA from Penn State University. Jen brings a unique blend of human resources, marketing, public affairs, and business management experience from the retail, manufacturing, insurance and non-profit sectors. Her passion is to provide exceptional customer service to small businesses.
Bruce Krell, Business Consultant
Bruce earned his BA in Business Administration and MBA in Finance & International Business from the Jay S. Sidhu School of Business of Leadership at Wilkes University. Bruce most recently served as a Field Representative for a Member of the United States House of Representatives, acting as liaison to various levels of government, small businesses, and communities.
Kate Neiderer, Center Operations/Educational Programs/Budget Coordinator/Lender Relations Specialist
Katie earned her BA from Mount Saint Mary’s University and a MS in Instructional Design and Technology from Bloomsburg University. She has experience in project management, banking and the real estate industry. In her role, Katie is managing website content, coordinating educational programs, budget coordination, reporting and providing support for the delivery of business consulting and technical assistance.
