With Keynote Speaker – Dr. Angela Frederick, “Disability Wisdom in Disaster Times” at 4 p.m. in CUB MPR on Tuesday, Sept. 29. Angela Frederick is Associate Professor of Sociology at The University of Texas at El Paso. Frederick is a medical sociologist whose work spans the areas of disability, environmental sociology, gender and family, and Hispanic/Latine college students’ paths into health fields. In her award-winning book, Disabled Power: A Storm, A Grid, and Embodied Harm in the Age of Disaster (NYU Press 2025), she examines the impact of Winter Storm Uri and the 2021 Texas power crisis on people with disabilities and chronic health conditions. Frederick earned her doctorate in sociology from The University of Texas at Austin in 2012.

ROTC “Love For Country” Session

The premise of the session is for the campus community to learn about the activities and training within ROTC that are intended to promote patriotism and a commitment to national service and defense. Attendees will also learn how to join ROTC at Shippensburg, if interested. In addition to the information being presented, a cadet will demonstrate what some of the training looks like for the audience.

A Quilt To Cover Us All "Every Piece Matters”

Be part of this annual tradition with the Diane L. Jefferson Multicultural Student Affairs Office, established to foster campus unity. The quilt gives students, groups, faculty, staff, and administration a platform for expression. The goal is to empower one another by creating a quilt that highlights our unique differences and embraces our commonalities.
