Spanish Certificate

A Spanish Certificate can help your resume stand out and it only requires 12 credits. Learning Spanish helps you communicate more effectively, providing more opportunities in a diverse job market.

What Will I Learn?

You will learn interpersonal communication, interpretive listening, interpretive reading as well as oral and written presentations in Spanish. In addition, you will learn about the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world including the products, practices and perspectives. Critical thinking, problem solving and cultural awareness are also other student learning outcomes of the certificate. You would attain an Intermediate-Low level minimum in oral and written skills.

What are the requirements for this degree?

The four courses required are from the Spanish major and will be selected by advisement.

What Kinds of Experiences Could I Have?

The focus is on oral proficiency. Thus, the program adheres to the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) standards. Our classes are small so we can provide students with a truly one-on-one learning experience.

You may consider joining the Spanish Club, which allows you to practice the Spanish language and learn about Hispanic culture through trips, events and more.
