Alison Dagnes is professor and chair of the Department of Political & Social Inquiry, which makes some sense because she was born and raised in Washington, D.C. Her research focuses on political media, which also makes sense because she loves her TV.
Dr. Dagnes is the author of three books about political media:
- Super Mad at Everything All the Time (2019)
- A Conservative Walks Into a Bar (2012)
- Politics on Demand
Additionally, she has edited two books about political scandals, and this research continues to bear fruit. She is a nationally recognized expert on American politics, and is frequently interviewed in the national and international press about elections, political media, and (of course) scandals of all types.
Dr. Dagnes received her doctorate in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Prior to graduate school, Dagnes worked as a producer at C-SPAN on Capitol Hill, which isn’t as boring as it sounds.
Selected research lectures:
- Forum Media ’25 International Conference, Prague, Czech Republic
- TedX Harrisburg: The Chaos of Our Political Media
