Resources and Equipment
We are located in Shearer Hall and have an excellent collection of equipment and resources for student use in class and in the field. On the second floor, the department maintains a soils lab and a water lab for analysis of soil and water samples. On the ground floor, we have two computer labs - the GIS Lab and the Jack Ford Lab. These computer laboratories are equipped with the latest professional-grade geospatial software for geographic analysis, remote sensing, and global positioning (e.g., Esri ArcGIS 10.4.1, ERDAS Imagine 2016 and Trimble Pathfinder Office v5.7). The department also has a large supply of field equipment that includes electronic total stations, soil/sediment samplers, water quality analyzers, stream gauging equipment, various geophysical tools including ground penetrating radar, electrical resistivity, and electrical magnetics equipment.
