Shippensburg University welcomes international students from all over the world. Interested students should start the application process by contacting the Admissions Office or by navigating to the International Applications section linked below, where you will find information about academic requirements, English language requirements, financial support, I-20 issuance and student life.

While Shippensburg University reviews applications on a rolling basis, we strongly recommend that applicants who live outside the United States and its territories submit all application materials by the dates listed below prior to the semester in which you intend to enroll. Submitting your application early will give you sufficient time to obtain a visa in your country.

Graduate International Applicants

Graduate Applicants, your graduate program may require you to submit attached files like your resume, statement of interest, essay or questionnaire via your application portal. These supplemental attachments can only be formatted as PDFs or Word documents. Be sure to submit them prior to the application deadline. Please note your file is not complete until we receive all supplemental documents.

The Global Education Center exists to support all efforts of international education for the Shippensburg University.  It aims to be a resource for the campus community with opportunities for educational and overseas experiences in addition to providing a welcoming community to students joining us from other parts of the world. 

It supports the function of studying and interning abroad; providing immigration, adaptation and cultural advice in a sensitive manner to international students; educating the University community through intercultural and educational programming; and supporting faculty efforts for short term study abroad opportunities.

Shippensburg University's International Student Population hosts students from all around the globe. Countries represented include Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Egypt, France, Germany, Ghana, Haiti, Hounduras, India, Ireland, Japan, Kenya, Morocco, Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, Ukraine, United Kingdom.

Generally, applications for admission should be submitted at least four months prior to the semester in which you would like to enroll. We recommend submitting your application early because it will allow sufficient time to process all documents, render an admission decision, and begin the visa processing.

If you are currently attending a college or university in the United States, you must submit a copy of your current I-20. You must also complete the SEVIS Transfer Form for International Students and return it to the Office of Admissions. International Students who are looking to transfer to Ship should follow Undergraduate International Application procedures or Graduate International Application procedures.

Undergraduate Applicants are eligible for the JFK International Student Scholarship. General information about the scholarship can be found on the International Student Services page; detailed information can be found on the JFK Scholarship page.

Graduate applicants may apply for a graduate assistantship, which provides a waiver of tuition only, and a small stipend.

Campus housing is available for both undergraduate and graduate international students. For information regarding on-campus or off-campus housing contact the Office of Housing and Residence Life.

  1. Credit Cards - International Students may pay online by credit card (with a 2.5% convenience fee). We accept the following major credit cards: MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. Shippensburg University does not accept Visa Credit Cards.
  2. Flywire - With Flywire, you can pay from any country and any bank. You are also offered excellent foreign exchange rates, allowing you to pay in your home currency (in most cases) and save a significant amount of money, as compared to traditional banks. To make an online payment, go the Flywire site at http://www.ship.edu/Student_Accounts/International/. Paying online is the fastest way to make last-minute payments to get your bill cleared by the due date!
