Shippensburg University and the Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC) have partnered to create a straightforward transition for students to complete their bachelor's degrees. 

Whether students are looking to transfer to Ship with credits they've already earned or planning to save money by completing an associate degree at HACC, Ship takes in transfer students regardless of the amount of credits they have earned. 

This collaboration allows incoming Ship transfers to seamlessly enroll into a bachelor's degree program and complete their education at a pace and manner that is the best fit for them.

Articulation Agreement

Students who have completed an associate degree and desire to continue the completion of a baccalaureate degree at Shippensburg University may apply for admission under the Dual Admission Program as early as their senior year of high school but no later than the completion of 30 college-level credits in a transfer program offered through HACC.

Student must graduate from HACC with an associate degree with a minimum GPA of 2.0, sign a Letter of Intent before completing 30 credits with HACC (students as early as high school seniors can sign a letter of intent), and meet all Shippensburg admissions requirements, including application deadlines.

If you qualify for the Shippensburg University dual admissions agreement, the university will accept the general education (core-to-core) as fulfilled general education requirements for bachelor’s degree programs (with A.A. or A.S. degree completion).

Shippensburg University will provide you with junior level status (in a parallel bachelor's degree program) and transfer advisement as a dual admissions student of HACC and Shippensburg University.

Request that Harrisburg Area Community College and any other colleges or universities that you have attended send transcripts to Shippensburg University. If you have completed fewer than 12 transferrable college credits you will also need to send your high school transcript. Once you have submitted the intent form, a Shippensburg University representative will be in touch with you via email. If you decide not to attend Shippensburg University after signing an intent form, you can cancel your dual admissions agreement by sending written notification to both Shippensburg University and Harrisburg Area Community College.

Students are encouraged to file the FAFSA to determine eligibility for financial aid, including scholarship opportunities. Raider Success Scholarships are available for transfer students with a 3.0 GPA and above. Speak with a transfer advisor to determine your eligibility.

If you transfer to Shippensburg prior to completing your associate degree, you may be able to earn an associate degree from HACC with the coursework you have been completing at Shippensburg University. Students may transfer credits and receive an associate’s degree once they have earned a combined total of at least 60 credits from both institutions. Eligible students can receive a first associate’s degree that accurately reflects their educational attainment and allows them to compete more successfully in higher education and the workforce, even as they continue working toward a bachelor’s degree or other certification or credential.

Education Majors: Clearance and PDE Information

Pennsylvania state law mandates that students have copies of clearances on file in the Teacher Education Department at Shippensburg University. You must complete these clearances PRIOR to starting early childhood classes at SHIP.
