Douglas Harbach ’82

Douglas Harbach ’82 serves as Director of Communications for the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, where he is responsible for media relations, public information, and communications related to the Board's oversight responsibilities. He joined the Gaming Control Board in 2006 after professional experience in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, private-sector consulting, and broadcast news.
A 1982 Shippensburg University graduate in communications, Harbach has maintained a longstanding record of service to the University. He has served as President of the Shippensburg University Alumni Association Board of Directors, participated in three presidential search committees, and chaired the University's 2021 presidential search. He delivered Shippensburg's undergraduate commencement address in December 2015.
Harbach has also served in numerous community leadership roles, including with the Greater Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce, Patriot Federal Credit Union, Lions Clubs, and Masonic organizations. His service on the Shippensburg University Council of Trustees has included multiple appointments beginning in 1991, with subsequent terms from 2008 to 2012 and beginning again in 2018.
