Nicole R. Hill, PhD, serves as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Shippensburg University, providing executive leadership for the University's academic mission and working with the President and senior leadership to advance academic excellence, student success, institutional effectiveness, and strategic priorities.
As the University's chief academic officer, Hill provides leadership for academic programs and colleges, graduate studies, faculty and academic personnel, curriculum, accreditation, assessment, and academic quality. Her portfolio also includes student success and retention, career readiness and workforce development, the Registrar, sponsored programs, institutional research, information technology, libraries, international programs, and strategic planning.
Hill was appointed Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs in 2026 after serving as interim provost. She previously served Shippensburg as Vice Provost, Dean of the College of Education and Human Services, and Dean of the Graduate School. She initially joined the University in 2017 as Dean of the College of Education and Human Services. Her experience at Shippensburg has provided leadership across academic administration, graduate education, faculty development, student success, workforce development, and institutional planning.
Before joining Shippensburg, Hill served at Syracuse University as a professor and chair of the Department of Counseling and Human Services, where her responsibilities included leadership of counselor education programs and doctoral education. She previously served at Idaho State University, including as interim dean of the Graduate School, department chair, and Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program Coordinator.
A Licensed Professional Counselor, Hill earned her undergraduate degree from Hanover College and her graduate degrees from Ohio University. Her academic and professional work has focused on counselor education, faculty and student development, professional leadership, well-being, and service. She has held leadership roles in national professional organizations, including Chi Sigma Iota International and the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision.
