Dr. Nicole R. Hill is the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania. Prior to serving as Provost, she was Vice Provost, Dean of the College of Education and Human Services, and Dean of the Graduate School. As Provost, Dr. Hill provides leadership for student success, retention, career readiness, workforce development, academic programs, registrar, sponsored programs, information technology, institutional research, assessment, strategic planning, libraries, and international programs. As Dean, she championed the principle of Leadership through Service and framed the dedication to such vision as the hallmark of the student experience in the College of Education and Human Services.
Dr. Hill began her counselor education career at Idaho State University, and during her tenure there, she served as Interim Dean of the Graduate School, Department Chair, and Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program Coordinator. Before arriving at Shippensburg University, she was Chairperson of the Department of Counseling at Syracuse University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor who completed her undergraduate degree from Hanover College and both her graduate degrees at Ohio University. Her professional initiatives focus on cultivating faculty and student development, championing humanistic engagement in professional communities, promoting well-being across the campus community, and advocating for leadership excellence.
Dr. Hill’s publication record and scholarship reflect these professional areas of focus. Her leadership as President of Chi Sigma Iota International, President for Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, and Communications Officer for Counselors for Social Justice has contributed to a broader understanding of how to advance the profession through service and advocacy. She is currently appointed by Governor Wolf to serve as Commissioner on the Professional Standards and Practices Commission in the Commonwealth.
