Facility Policies
- The complex is a tobacco and alcohol free environment.
- Parking is restricted to the designated parking area on Fort St near the intersection of Earl St or, when identified as available, the C-1 lot. No vehicle access past brick pillar on the University side or beyond designated parking area at Fort Street corner.
- Emergency phone mounted in brick pillar near the Engineering Building.
- Sponsors of events are responsible for full compliance by organization members, spectators and opponents.
Heiges Field House Pool
- Access is at the pool lobby doors.
- All swimmers must shower before entering the pool
- No running or horseplay at any time
- All equipment (i.e. buoys, kickboards) should be used only for its intended purpose.
- Return all equipment to its proper location before exiting the pool area.
- All children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult
- All swimmers must sign in and sign out
Lobby- Individuals should enter the lobby through the glass doors next to the desk. All other glass doors are locked on evenings and weekends.
Heiges Field House Arena
- Non-marking shoes are required. Shoes not worn outside are preferred.
- No hanging on the basketball rims, nets or backboards.
Henderson Gymnasium
- Primarily used by the Exercise Science Department and the Athletics Department.
- A 100’x70’ wooden floored gymnasium with bleacher seating for 600.
- Ancillary spaces include locker rooms
- Patrons should enter the lobby through the doors on the left (when entering the building).
- No food or drink in the gym area at any time
- Non-marking shoes are required. Shoes not worn outside are preferred.
- No hanging on backboards, rims or nets.
Henderson Arena
- The complex is a tobacco and alcohol free environment.
- Use of bleachers requires a training session by Recreation Department staff
- Non-marking shoes are required
- No food or beverage permitted within the arena. Requestors may select HG lobby or patio as a location for food/beverage associated with events in the arena.
- Sponsors of events are responsible for full compliance by organization members, spectators and opponents.
General
- This facility is not available for recreational use.
- Event spectators should not enter any playing surface.
- Food and beverages, other than water in a non-breakable container, are not permitted on playing surfaces.
- Gum, seeds, alcohol, confetti, open flame, glass containers, and pets are not permitted within the complex.
- The complex is a tobacco-free environment and alcohol is not permitted on campus.
- Bicycles must be placed in the storage rack. Use of skateboards and rollerblades is prohibited.
- Equipment, field marking, and maintenance devices may be used only by authorized University personnel.

Turf Field
- The turf field is a varsity complex. Recreational use is not permitted.
Varsity Softball Field
- Softball facilities are reserved for varsity team use. Recreational use is not permitted.
Tennis Courts
- Courts may only be used for tennis; skateboards, rollerblades, and similar items and activities are prohibited.
- White-soled tennis footwear is required.
- Recreational use is permitted when the facility is not in use by intercollegiate practices/games and special events.
- Recreational users must be members of the University community possessing appropriate SU identification.
- Event spectators should not enter any playing surface.
- Gum, food, and beverages, other than water in a non-breakable container, are not permitted on playing services.
- Pets, glass containers, and confetti are not permitted within the facility.
- The complex is a tobacco-free environment and alcohol is not permitted on campus.
- Bicycles must be placed in the storage rack.
- Equipment, field marking, and maintenance devices may be used only by authorized University personnel.
- After dusk, the facility may be used only when illuminated. The facility lighting schedule is recorded on the Rec Hotline: 717-477-1561.

- Recreational users must be members of the University community possessing appropriate SU identification.
- Molded cleats are appropriate for turf but prohibited from track.
- The following are prohibited from the turf and track:
- Food/beverage other than water in non-breakable container.
- Wheeled traffic.
- Personal seating, tables, tents, and canopies.
- Gum, seeds, tobacco products, alcohol, pets, confetti, and open flame.
- Activities not specifically authorized.
- Equipment, field marking, and maintenance devices may be used only by authorized University personnel.
- Track and turf surfaces should be accessed only by pedestrian traffic.No wheeled traffic may enter. Only event participants are permitted and spectators will remain outside the fence.
- Food and beverage, other than water in a non-breakable container, should not enter the track or playing surface.
- Personal seating is not permitted on track or turf surface. Tables, tents, and canopies are not permitted. Use of chairs and other structures subject the surfaces to damage.
- Equipment, apparatus, field marking and maintenance devices may be assembled, disassembled or relocated only by authorized University personnel.
- Casual users are those who are not part of a planned or structured event. Casual users may access the turf, and casual track users may use only lanes 5-8.
- Facility is not available to casual use during varsity competition or practice.
- Flat soled athletic shoes are preferred footwear for all track and turf activity. Molded rubber cleats are permissible footwear for the turf, but should not be worn while crossing track surface.
- No animals, confetti, gum, seeds, tobacco products, alcohol, open flame, golfing, or activities not specifically authorized, may take place within the facility.
- Some assert that bacterial contamination may persist on artificial surfaces. Minimizing contamination is the best course of action. Considering that bacteria may be harbored in any surface, it is always prudent to immediately disinfect any cut or abrasion. Any bio-hazardous deposit must be immediately reported to Recreation staff or University Police.

General
- Adhere to posted area-specific rules.
- Recreation building users must wear non-marking shoes.
- Equipment/ physical setups may be assembled, disassembled, or relocated only by ShipRec staff.
- ID requirement is in effect for all users.
- All group use requires advanced approval
- No activities involving projectiles thrown, or otherwise, unless specifically authorized by ShipRec administrative staff will be permitted.
Cardio/Strength Area
- Jeans, pants or shorts with rivets or zippers, and belts are not permitted.
- Gym bags backpacks, and purses are not allowed in workout areas. Bags must be stored in cubbies, day lockers (require a quarter) or in a locker room locker (bring your own lock).
- Individuals are required to wear athletic shoes. No open-toe or non-athletic shoes are permitted.
- No glass bottles or open containers are permitted. Only plastic bottles and closed containers are allowed.
- Please do not remove equipment from the cardio/strength area.
Indoor Track
- Track is for exclusive use of walkers and runners.
- Be alert for runners as you enter the track surface.
- Store personal items in secure storage.
- Non-marking, spike-free shoes are required.
- Inside lane is a walking lane - 8.5 laps/mile.
- Outside lane is a running lane - 8 laps/mile.
- Please honor any posted directional signs.
Racquetball/Squash Court Reservations
- Reservations are not required - play is drop-in use.
- Non-marking shoes are required.
Group Fitness Room
- No gum, food, or beverage permitted. Only water in a sealed container is permitted.
- Store personal items in secure storage.
- Attire should be free of rivets, snaps, and zippers.
- Non-marking athletic footwear is required.
- Reservation information is available at the entrance desk.
- Drop-in use is permitted when the room is not in use.
- ShipRec equipment may not be removed from the group fitness room.
- Workout at your own fitness level.
- Turn off electronic devises during class.
- Instructors may limit class for safety.
- Audio visual equipment is managed by ShipRec staff.
Equipment Check Out
- ShipRec members are eligible to check-out equipment at the entrance desk at no charge. Guests are not permitted to check-out equipment.
- All equipment check-out requires the presentation of a valid SU ID or membership card. The ID or membership card will remain at the entrance desk for the duration of check-out.
- Any equipment reported as lost or damaged will be subject to a replacement fee.
- Recreational use is available to members of the University community presenting appropriate identification.
- Equipment, apparatus, field marking and maintenance devices may be assembled, disassembled or relocated only by Department staff.
- Pets must be leashed and are restricted from all structures and the area inside the asphalt path. Pet owners assume responsibility for cleanup.
- Bicycles are not permitted inside the asphalt path or within any structure. Bikes may be secured only to bike racks.
- After dusk, playing surfaces are not to be used unless illuminated.
- The 827-meter (.51mile) asphalt path is the only area outside the hockey rink where rollerblading and skateboarding are permitted. Pedestrians are requested to proceed in a clockwise direction while wheel traffic should travel counter-clockwise.
- The hockey rink may be used only for hockey or free skating unless approved by the Department of Recreation.
- Golfing is not permitted at the SRC.
