Student Clubs

One of the most valuable parts of college is developing strong relationships and networks with other people in your field. The Exercise Science Department facilitates these connections through interactive classwork and by encouraging students to be involved with clubs and activities on campus. We have two student-run organizations who work closely with faculty to foster these connections.

Exercise Science Club

The Exercise Science Club was founded by students in 2006 to organize opportunities for professional development, community service, mentorship, and fellowship. The Club participates in several community service and service-learning projects each year, including:

  • Student Resources Fair
  • Shippensburg University Wellness Fair
  • Family Science Night at a local elementary school
  • Trailfest

The Club also hosts guest speakers each semester that feature alumni or professionals from various fitness or allied health careers, organizes departmental social events, assists with regional conference attendance, and sells Exercise Science t-shirts. Joining the Exercise Science Club is a great way to get to know other students, become involved with the campus and community, and build your leadership skills. The Club meets on a monthly basis during the semester, so keep your eyes open for emails announcing the time and location.

Exercise Science Honor Society

The Exercise Science Honor Society (ESHS) was founded by students in 2016 to recognize Exercise Science Majors for their academic achievements and commitment to excellence, and is open to any junior or senior Exercise Science Major who holds a GPA of 3.20 or higher. The ESHS participates in many community service and service-learning projects each year, including:

  • Exercise Science course tutoring
  • Shippensburg University Wellness Fair
  • Wellness Resource Center presentations
  • Food drives for local food banks

The ESHS also coordinates with the Exercise Science Club on hosting guest speakers and planning social events. ESHS membership is an asset when applying for a job, internship, or graduate school; and it also provides a way for students to give back to the major and university.

If you are interested in joining the Exercise Science Honor Society, please contact the ESHS Faculty Advisor, Dr. Braun (, who will refer you to the current society president.
