Event Support

Volunteers play an invaluable role in supporting alumni events. Help make Ship gatherings unforgettable for everyone involved.

Lend a Hand

Sometimes our Alumni Relations staff or other areas of campus need help hanging up signs, handing out swag, moving tables & chairs, or simply greeting alumni with a warm welcome. Feel good about helping - and meet more awesome alumni like yourself. We are so very thankful for our event volunteers!

Signature Events:

Alumni Weekend

Alumni Weekend is held annually the Friday and Saturday after Memorial Day in two fun-filled, jam-packed days with activities that often overlap requiring a large army of volunteers. Alumni Weekend is for all alumni with special activities planned for milestone class reunions and affinity groups and organizations. When you volunteer, you'll greet alumni at receptions, dinners, socials, and fun activities.

Homecoming

Homecoming typically occurs in October with events ranging from family-friendly tailgates handing out swag and greeting alumni at the tailgate tent, at dinners and receptions. Take some time to make this a truly special trip home for fellow alumni.

Legacy Pinning Program

Held during Parents and Family Weekend in September, alumni relatives of currently enrolled students are invited to a ceremony with the Shippensburg University President, the Office of Alumni Relations, and members from the Alumni Association Board of Directors to symbolically pass a special legacy pin from one generation to the next. Welcome our legacy families and hand out pins to those following in the footsteps of a family member.

Highlighted University Events:

Commencement

Commencement is held on a Saturday in May and December. Volunteers will help at this momentous event by greeting alumni legacy families in reserved seating areas, greeting and chaperoning the 50th class reunion representatives that participate in the procession, assisting with special seating, and taking tickets for indoor ceremonies as we welcome the newest alumni to the family.

H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center

If you're enthusiastic about the Performing Arts then volunteer to be an usher; check coats; take tickets; work concession; or greet ticket holders with programs. Rewards include meeting renowned performers and watch incredible performances (based on available seating)
