Psychology Activities and Organizations



Activities and organizations related to psychology provide students with chances to network, pursue leadership positions, conduct research, boost their resumes and have fun! Each semester, Shippensburg University and the Psychology Department host dozens of student-focused events including speakers, career development seminars, graduate school sessions, internship fairs, movies, festivals, and more.

There are student-led groups on campus and nationally-recognized groups, both of which provide great opportunities.

Shippensburg's Psychology Book Club

The Psychology Book Club is a great way to engage with faculty members and other students outside of the classroom. The book club reads a variety of fiction and non-fiction titles relevant to psychology.  Book club members collaboratively choose the books and the club meets once each semester for a shared group discussion. The book club is open to all Shippensburg University students.

Psi Chi

Psi Chi is the National Honor Society in Psychology founded in 1929 for the purpose of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining scholarship in and advancing the science of psychology. Students are inducted into Psi Chi on the basis of academic success.

American Psychological Association

The American Psychological Association is a national professional society composed of professionals, researchers, teachers and students from many areas of psychology. Many members who belong to APA have interests and training in counseling or clinical areas in psychology.

Association for Psychological Science

The Association for Psychological Science is a national society that publishes a journal and holds an annual convention focusing on overcoming the boundaries of specialties on exploring major issues in psychological science from a variety of perspectives. Student membership is encouraged.

Eastern Psychological Association

The Eastern Psychological Association is a regional organization of psychologists who represent a wide variety of fields within psychology. Each year this group meets to present the latest findings in different areas of psychology. Student membership is encouraged. Many students in our department not only belong to this association, but have also presented their research at this conference.
